About The Role
We have a new opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead our team in the Central region, based at our office in Solihull, on a permanent basis.
The Managing Quantity Surveyor will oversee the provision of quantity surveying services within the Commercial department of the Central region, managing a team and reporting to our Commercial Director. The role involves ensuring processes are effective and add value to the business.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Manage the department’s subcontract procurement process, ensuring buying opportunities are maximized
* Lead and develop a team, including conducting reviews and providing training
* Oversee subcontract management from initial valuation to final account
* Assist the Commercial Director in producing Value Cost Reconciliation, cash revenue, and expenditure reports with high accuracy
* Liaise with other departments to ensure deadlines are met
* Ensure third-party rebate information is collated
* Support contract negotiations
* Provide guidance and support to the department
* Carry out site visits regularly
* Maximize opportunities to claim third-party rebates through product specification
* Support prompt resolution of subcontract disputes
About You
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
* Experience leading and developing a Commercial team
* Excellent knowledge of construction contract law and conditions
* Proven success in leading mixed-tenure housing development projects
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, programmes, and specifications, with practical construction experience
* Experience managing relationships with other departments and external supply chain partners
* Effective time management skills to meet targets
* Experience utilizing construction technologies and product innovations to improve project success
* Understanding of project risks and opportunities related to environmental, social, and governance criteria
* Proficiency in IT systems, including Coins and MS Office (Excel and Word)
* Full UK Driving Licence
