Criminal Justice Recovery Worker (Dependency and Recovery) - Suffolk Drug & Alcohol Service


Job Introduction

2 year fixed term contract

Are you looking for a new challenge? Turning Point Suffolk’s criminal justice team is looking for 2 experienced workers to join their expanding team. These roles are part of a new initiative to support people who have drug and / or alcohol issues and have been given a community order from the courts. You will be based at Probation and work from various agencies including Turning Point, prisons, magistrates court, crown court and the police investigation centres in either Ipswich or Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.

As a Dependency and Recovery Worker – we offer a starting salary of £25,116 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £29,383 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

We are a countywide service and you can be based at Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich or Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.

Role Responsibility

* Be the point of contact for Probation and Turning Point for the people who are supported by both services;
* Carry a designated complex caseload of people we support within the criminal justice system who are working with Probation and Turning Point.
* Conduct assessments of need and risk assessments and formulate risk management plans and plans that recognise the personal goals of the person we support;
* Effective partnership working and coordinate multi-agency meetings when appropriate;
* Offer client focus interventions that are underpinned by evidence and build on best practice;
* Participate in meetings and be confident and competent at presenting cases orally and through written reports;
* Ensuring achievement of key performance indicators relevant toyour role;
* Delivering internal and external learning events and representing Probation and Turning Point;

Role specifics:

* To carry out substance misuse assessments including assessment of personal strengths and identification of any risk factors;
* Formulate, monitor and review risk assessments and risk management plans that effectively safeguard and protect service users and families/carers from harm;
* Effective multiagency working with statutory and non-statutory agencies in relation to the wider presenting needs and complexities of service users;
* Deliver and support harm reduction interventions, including needle exchange and access to physical health care including BBV and health screening


The Ideal Candidate

* To build strong professional relationships with partner agencies;
* Ability to manage own diary and prioritise commitments;
* High level of written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to keep timely and concise records;
* Knowledge of drugs and alcohol and the criminal justice system;
* Access to a car and a driving licence as the role will include travel outside of public transport hours and to locations not covered by it.
