The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) division provides instruction and programs aligned with the College’s mission: Virginia Peninsula Community College changes lives, empowers students to succeed, and enhances the social and economic vitality of the region through high-quality education and workforce training, excellent service, and innovative partnerships. STEM encompasses comprehensive transfer, occupational, and technical programs of superior quality that prepare students for success.
The STEM Initiatives Coordinator assists with the planning and management of STEM outreach activities, the development of STEM programs that support STEM education at the K-12 and college levels, and the identification, writing, planning, and submission of STEM based grants. This position is responsible for coordinating STEM outreach in the Virginia Peninsula with regional higher education and industry partners.

*This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority. All employees are responsible employees and mandatory reporters.
*This position may occasionally flex hours based on planning and coverage of STEM events that occur in the evenings or on the weekends.* Minimum Qualifications:
1. Experience in STEM educational programs at the K-12 and/orcollege level (e.g., robotics, engineering technology, makerspace, teaching training, etc.)
2. Experience developing curriculum for STEM educational programs (e.g., classroom lessons, camp curricula, teacher professional development sessions, etc.)
3. Experience in program coordination, educational outreach, and community engagement
4. Experience with grant writing and reporting
5. Experience developing and maintaining a budget.
Knowledge
6. Understanding of grant reporting and compliance requirements.
7. Knowledge of STEM educational programming, especially in the areas of information systems technology, cybersecurity, engineering, biological sciences, and/or physical sciences
8. Working knowledge of STEM education trends and best practices at K-12 and post-secondary levels.
9. Knowledge of program development and evaluation methods.
10. Thorough knowledge of grant management and reporting procedures.
