Adoption@Heart is a Regional Adoption Agency working on behalf of Wolverhampton, Walsall, and Dudley Councils and Sandwell Children’s Trust. We are currently recruiting to a Family Support Worker in the Adoption Support Team. The role is responsible for the delivery and quality of the Keep in Touch arrangements (formerly called Post Adoption Contact). The arrangements allow contact or communication between a child, his or her adoptive family, and members of the child's birth family or other persons with whom the child has an established relationship, such as a foster parent, after the child's adoption has been finalised. The correspondence is monitored to make sure that no contact details are revealed, and any inappropriate content is removed. You will be responsible for liaison with professionals, birth and adoptive family to ensure that this process is followed. Additionally you will be responsible for supervising direct contact between siblings who have been adopted by other families, or with other birth relatives. The role also includes being responsible for group work, for example, supporting teenage Adoptees who meet together on a monthly basis and coordinating, supervising and facilitating a monthly stay and play group in the region. You will support birth parents with letter writing so you need to be able to travel across the region. You will need to be computer literate, organised, able to manage competing priorities and have excellent customer service skills. This posts is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. For further information on these posts, please contact: Suzanne Bunce - suzanne.bunce@Adoptionatheart.org.uk Closing date: 11.01.26 Our working arrangements All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements. Please refer to the Job Description for further information on the workstyle assigned to the role you are applying for.
