Home-Start Southport and Formby isrecruiting

Family Support Co-Ordinator/Worker

21hours a week (over 3 days, Tuesday, Wednesday and one other)

£14,19621 hours+ 7% pension+ mileage allowance + 5 Weeks Holiday

Home-Start is a voluntary organisation working alongside families in their own homes and communities to help them through challenging times. We support families with at least one child under 5 years of age who are facing a range of challenges. These include poor mental health, isolation, financial difficulties and challenges caring for young children or children with additionalneeds. Thispost is funded by The National Lottery and has been created due to an increased demand for our unique service, and to enhance the support we currently provide to families.As a Family Support Co-Ordinator/Worker, you will work closely with designated families to providea range of support, tailored to the familys needs.

Purposes of the job

* To provide immediate support for families in need

* To contribute to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Governing documents, Standards and Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.

* To maintainhigh standards of practice in supporting families within the ethos of Home-Start.

* Complying with the schemes administration, monitoring and financial systems.

* To ensure inclusion and diversity in all aspects of the schemes operation and work.

Main Responsibilities

* Manage a caseload of children and families allocated to you, assess the needs of the families and offer appropriate support.

* Ensure families support is reviewed at regular intervals, and at the end of Home-Start supportin line with current Home-Start guidance.

* Provide one to one support to a case load of families and signpost to partner voluntary or statutory services as appropriate.

* Identify and act on safeguarding issues and have a clear understanding of the boundaries of professional relationships.

* Contribute to the provision of social events and day trips for Home-Start families and volunteers.

* Contribute to the running of weekly Home-Start baby and toddler groups.

Support for families

* Receiving referrals and assessing needs of families.

* Introducing families to appropriate support.

* Ensuring support to families is reviewed at regular intervals and at the end of Home-Start support.

* To undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote childrens welfare.

Managing Volunteers

* Recruiting and training suitable volunteers.

* Matching and introducing volunteers to families.

* Providing support, supervision and on-going training opportunities for volunteers.

Working in Partnership

* Ensuring appropriate liaison with referrers and other professionals

* Networking appropriately within the community.

Managing the Wider Context

* Promoting the scheme, its profile, ethos and practice.

* Contributing to the development of Home-Start locally, regionally and nationally.

The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.
