Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) – Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Capital, Estates & Facilities Department at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board as a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical). The Estates Department currently has a position to work alongside and support the Estates Operational Teams in the day-to‑day operational maintenance of the UHB Estate at the University Hospital Llandough.

Responsibilities
* Perform work including complex and/or non‑routine activities.
* Calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment such as Hot and Cold‑Water Systems, Low Pressure Hot Water Systems, Steam Raising Plant, Steam Sterilizers, Medical Gas Pipe Systems, Ventilation Systems, Electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control & automation, standby generator plant, security access control and nurse call systems.
* Undertake planned maintenance, reactive repairs, minor improvements and support other trades and discretionary capital work across the UHB as directed by management.
* Ensure compliance with UHB safety standards and procedures at all times.
* Provide multi‑skilled engineering expertise across electrical and mechanical equipment and fabric.
* Provide advice and instruction to other maintenance workers; prepare verbal and written reports to Team Leaders and M&E Managers.
* Liaise with senior clinical staff at ward/department level, ensuring maintenance tasks minimise disruption to patient support services and patient care.
* Conduct workload unobtrusively, informing local staff of any disruption or potential noise and ensuring minimum distress levels to patients.
* Liaise with external suppliers and contractors, dealing with technical queries and information.
