The Role
As Lead Shift Engineer, you will oversee both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across all mechanical and electrical plant per site schedules and asset registers
* Respond promptly to reactive maintenance, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
* Diagnose and rectify plant faults to maintain operational performance
* Complete statutory maintenance in line with SFG20 requirements
* Manage critical spares stock, preparing parts lists and timelines for remedial works
* Issue and control Permits to Work for internal teams and subcontractors
* Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all maintenance and breakdown activities
* Maintain strong relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and client representatives
* Present a professional, customer-focused approach at all times
* Keep plant rooms safe, clean, and compliant
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, SLAs, KPIs, and SHEQ standards
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship
* Proven Facilities Management experience with a strong operational track record
Desirable
* HNC / HND / Foundation Degree
* BOAS / BG01
* City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
* IET 17th Edition
* City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 (Testing & Inspection) or relevant HVAC qualification
Technical & Professional Skills
* Strong knowledge of building services and statutory compliance
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAFM systems
* Calm, methodical approach under pressure
* Experience leading, mentoring, or supporting engineering teams
