The Head of Clinical Systems is a key role within the SLaM Digital Services Senior Management Team, which is accountable and responsible for leading the strategic development, integration, and optimisation of our digital clinical platforms. Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead and be responsible for the development and management of core clinical systems and provision of training and support services to ensure staff members are able to effectively use the Trust's clinical systems and applications. Post holder will lead the Clinical Systems Team in the development and implementation of clinical digital programs within SLaM ensuring they provide consistent high quality and deliver transformational change. This will encompass the engagement of clinical staff in capturing requirements, clinical flows and the provision of professional advice to the development and implementation teams enabling the use of digital technology to be embedded into clinical practice. This includes, but not limited to, ePR, ePMA, PEP, eOBS, LCR (Local Care Record) and mobile APP technology.
As part of the Digital Services Senior Management team and with internal/external trust stakeholders, to develop, interpret and implement corporate and national policies into service models to facilitate and enhance clinical capabilities for SLaM and across the wider NHS and healthcare ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:
Service lead and oversight for Clinical Systems Support & Maintenance functions
•End users are able to access effective help, training and support in using clinical systems
•Clinical Systems are operationally available 24/7
•Co-ordination of the implementation of electronic clinical systems within SLAM services
•Manage operational revenue budgets
•Effective liaison between system suppliers and clinical systems teams
Lead Clinical System Application Development to underpin Clinical Service Improvement
•Act as an ‘Agent For Change’ to develop clinical transformation programmes
•Participate and lead Trust Meetings to gather requirements and provide advice
•Support and develop the vision of the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO)
•Gather and plan new clinical business requirements into the strategic roadmap
•Liaise with System Suppliers and ensure value and delivery alignment
•Exploit commercial opportunities arising from local and National developments and innovations
•Manage development and other innovation projects related to clinical systems, including capital budgets and awards.
Identify and implement change with other Departments / Teams
•Participate in the development of Quality Assurance and Reporting Tools
•Implement and monitor new working procedures with allied departments to ensure existing work programmes are integrated into mainstream IT activities

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Masters degree and demonstrable career path within Digital or significant and relevant demonstrable experience including the strategic development, implementation and maintenance of clinical systems improvement and transformation.

2. Member of a professional body (BCS) (A)
3. Significant experience of managing clinical systems
4. Previous project experience in a large organisation and managing projects using PRINCE 2 or other recognised project methodology
5. Experience of design and implementing IT systems in large organisations
6. Technical/Functional requirements specification preparation experience
7. Experience of preparing all relevant project documents
8. High level of specialist analytical techniques
9. Experience of managing a dynamic team of staff enabling service transformation
10. Experience in the use of industry standard project methodology
11. In possession of a Full, Clean, Current Driving Licence
12. Providing Project implementation related training to staff
13. Ability to be pro-active in producing clear project documentation
14. IT background with excellent working knowledge of software languages and database concepts
