Burhill Golf Club, located within a magnificent 1,100 acre Surrey estate (with 400 acres dedicated to the golf club), is a long established and prestigious members’ club. The estate, originally a private residence of the Guinness family, retains its heritage under the careful stewardship of Burhill Group Limited (BGL), a family-owned business, descending from the Guinness family, who remain committed to protecting the club’s heritage, whilst developing the club sensitively and sustainably.
This vision details a bold and necessary evolution of Burhill Golf Club beyond golfing excellence in order it meets the growing expectations of a modern, diverse club membership.
Role Overview
As a senior strategic leader, the General Manager (GM) is accountable for executing the long-term vision and direction of Burhill Golf Club in alignment with the family owners’ ambitions and BGL’s strategy.
The GM will oversee and lead the delivery of the ‘vision’ – a transformational project to reposition Burhill Golf Club as a multi-generational sporting and lifestyle destination. This includes the development of state-of-the-art facilities such as indoor and outdoor padel courts, a wellness gym and relaxation suite, a reimagined food and beverage proposition, and a fully refurbished clubhouse.
The GM will work through the Head of Golf Operations, Course Manager, Head of Clubhouse and Head of Leisure, focusing on strategic direction, sustainability, and change leadership. Operational accountability sits with these department heads, while the GM ensures high-level alignment, vision execution, and adherence to environmental goals, including the club’s commitment to GEO accreditation and BGL’s target to achieve Net Zero by 2026
