About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, nurturing and proactive Primary Pupil Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children by supporting their learning, wellbeing and development within a caring school environment.
You will work closely with class teachers, supporting individual pupils and small groups across a broad and balanced curriculum. Your role will be vital in helping children thrive emotionally, socially and academically.
What you'll be doing
1. Support pupils’ emotional, social and behavioural wellbeing, promoting positive relationships and self‑esteem.
2. Work with individual pupils and small groups to deliver educational activities and implement agreed learning or behavioural programmes.
3. Assist teachers in developing, preparing and delivering individual educational programmes, including organising materials and equipment.
4. Record relevant educational, social and behavioural information and contribute to annual review reports and progress files.
5. Support behaviour management in line with the school framework and help maintain an organised, engaging classroom environment.
6. Accompany pupils on educational visits and supervise them at all times, including during lunch to encourage positive social skills.
7. Provide personal care support where required, including toileting, and occasionally assist with transporting pupils after detentions or visits.
8. Participate in staff meetings, briefings and training, contributing to whole‑school policies and ongoing professional development.
What you will bring
Essential
9. GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4+ in English and Maths
10. Must have EYFS experience and be willing to carry out personal intimate care.
11. Basic IT skills and confidence using computers
12. Ability to work well in a team and build positive relationships with children and young people
13. Flexible, resilient, and able to stay calm under pressure
14. Strong communication, including negotiation skills, with high expectations of others
15. Ability to work independently, use initiative, and prioritise tasks
Desirable
16. Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting
17. A relevant qualification in Childcare, Education, or Social Care
18. A full driving licence
