Role Overview: The General Works Operator supports the preparation and manufacture of stainless steel products to customer specifications, working across fabrication, laser, bar work, and de-spatch. This is a hands-on role with training provided and clear progression routes. Key Duties: Stock & Goods-In / ERP Traceability: Offload, label, and rack incoming material; destock usage in ERP/MRP; maintain accurate records (weights, labels, order/job sheets). Workshop Operations: Measure, mark out, cut, punch, bend, shear, weld, and clean sheet/plate; thread-roll, cut, bend, and deburr bar; set up cutting, punching, bending, and thread-rolling machines; operate the laser to cut plate/sheet to tolerance. Despatch: Pack, label, and secure products for shipment; liaise with office/logistics as required. Quality, H&S, Environmental: Work to the Management Manual; quality checks against spec; follow H&S procedures; keep work area clean/tidy; care for tools; report damage/faults; follow environmental requirements. Communication & Teamwork / Training: Communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, and team members; share best practice; participate in training and knowledge-sharing. Candidate Profile (Experience Required): Basic workshop experience (cutting, punching, bending, thread-rolling, drilling, tapping, or similar). Comfortable with laser cut-to-size workflows (training provided). Ability to read engineering drawings and use ERP/MRP systems (training provided). Safety-conscious, reliable, and a good communicator. FLT/overhead crane experience desirable but not essential. Why This Role?
