About The Role
Role Details: Senior Buyer
Altrad are currently on the lookout for a Senior Buyer to join the business to oversee the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services for the organisation. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and ensures the timely delivery of high-quality products at the best possible cost. The Senior Buyer analyses market trends and provides guidance to support business objectives.
Key Deliverables
* Research and identify reliable suppliers for services (and goods)
* Solicit quotes, analyse bids, and negotiate prices, terms and conditions, and contracts
* Ability to think outside the box when it comes to contract strategy
* Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong relationships
* Review purchase requisitions and process subcontract / purchase orders
* Monitor inventory levels and forecast future purchasing needs
* Track order status, resolve supply chain issues, and ensure on‑time deliveries to sites
* Analyse market trends to identify cost‑saving opportunities
* Develop and implement effective procurement strategies and be well organised
* Work closely with other teams (such as HSEQ, Commercial and Engineering) to understand purchasing requirements
* Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier agreements
* Ensure compliance with (internal and external) company policies and relevant regulations
* Identify and manage risks within the supply chain
* Manage supplier accounts including payments etc.
Key Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in business, law, supply chain management, or a related field (MSIPS is a bonus)
* Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management (use or knowledge of Business Central is a bonus)
* Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
* Proficiency in using purchasing and inventory management software
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to analyse data and prepare clear reports
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Understanding of relevant industry regulations and best practices
* Use of NEC suite of contracts would be very advantageous
* The ability to draft contractual documents such as Variations, manage approvals appropriately and issue in a timely manner.
