Clevedon Minor Injury Unit promotes a multi-disciplinary model in which clinical staff work closely with the other healthcare professionals within the setting, this ensures our patients receive the highest level of care. This is also an amazing opportunity for your career development!
Your role is key to the service and will provide support to the practitioners, collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and contribute positively to the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care. You will assist with both clinical and non-clinical duties and ensure the patients attending the unit receive timely assessment and treatment.
The service offers treatment for adults, children and young people for a wide range of minor injuries, meaning that no day is the same working in the Clevedon MIU.
Main duties of the job
* Greet, register, and assist patients attending the MIU
* Support clinical staff taking and recording vital signs
* Carry out basic wound care
* Support patients with mobility, comfort, and personal needs.
* Assist with procedures such as plaster application or removal
* prepare and restock clinical rooms and trolleys
* Assist in maintaining infection prevention and control standards
* Escort patients to radiology, other departments, or discharge areas.
* Clean and prepare equipment for use

Person Specification
Skills, Experience and Knowledge
* Experience of direct client care in the urgent care setting
* Experience in carrying out phlebotomy services
* Experience in providing dressing and wound care
* Experience of caring for patients (adult essential and children desirable) who present with a range of presenting conditions
* Experience in community and acute settings
Qualifictions and Training
* Evidence of recent training and maintenance of competence.
* Basic knowledge of the recognition of the deteriorating sick patient
* Knowledge of the reporting procedures in the Protection of Vulnerable Adults and children and basic principles associated with the mental capacity act
* Basic Life Support Adults/Children
* Achieved or working towards NVQ L 3 Health and Social Care
