Senior Power BI Developer with DAX, PowerQuery, SQL, Snowflake Specialist II - Software Engineering
Join UST as a Senior Power BI Consultant. The role is based in London – Hybrid, 3 days work from the client office in Central London.
The contract is permanent/fixed term, starting with 6 months and possible extensions until Dec 2026. Candidates with shorter notice periods and full work authorization in the UK are preferred.
The role involves delivering high-quality reporting solutions, scalable semantic models, and end-to-end data workflows to support business and operational reporting. The ideal candidate collaborates closely with stakeholders to build reliable, high-performance dashboards and data models aligned with strategic reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and optimize Power BI semantic models for large datasets (4–5 GB and above).
* Build advanced DAX calculations using best practices for performance and maintainability.
* Perform data transformation using Power Query (M language).
* Integrate data from Snowflake, SQL Server, SharePoint, and other enterprise sources.
* Use Tabular Editor and DAX Studio for model optimization, versioning, and troubleshooting.
* Implement data model and report performance tuning techniques.
* Develop clean wireframes and intuitive dashboard layouts aligned to business needs.
* Manage distributed reporting across multiple user groups, business domains, and products.
* Conduct unit testing, change-impact assessments, and follow structured change-management processes.
* Ensure high levels of data integrity, validation, and quality assurance.
* Deliver end-to-end data solutions (data ingestion → modelling → visualization → deployment).
* Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements, including financial and P&L reporting.
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
* Advanced proficiency in DAX, M (Power Query), and SQL.
* Experience integrating and modelling data from Snowflake.
* Expertise building scalable, high‑performance semantic models.
* Proficiency with Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
* Understanding of Power BI’s calculation engine and performance optimization methods.
* Experience in large‑scale distributed reporting environments.
* Strong dashboard design and visualization skills.
* Excellent attention to detail, data validation, and QA focus.
* Experience delivering end‑to‑end BI solutions.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and business teams.
Nice‑to‑Have
* Experience in financial, investment, or asset/wealth management reporting.
* Understanding of P&L structures, multi‑entity reporting, and operational metrics.
