Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Band 6 Orthopaedic Occupational Therapist to join the Central Area Occupational Therapy Team. You will be working predominately in elective services in the new Orthopaedic ward in Llandudno Hospital. At times there may be a need to provide clinical cover to the orthopaedic trauma service in Glan Clwyd Hospital.
This post is 23.5 hours per week on a permanent basis.
You will have excellent organisation and time management skills and be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of this busy service and to support during the transition to the new site.
Main duties of the job
This post offers an opportunity to develop both clinical and managerial skills. Significant experience of working within orthopaedics services is essential. You will play a critical role in the delivery of this service, ensuring person centred care is delivered in a timely manner whilst also supporting hospital flow. The role requires the successful applicant to work flexibly across sites dependent on service needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for some of the day to day management and supervision of junior staff within the department. There is a rotational Band 5 OT and a Senior OT therapy assistant within the team – they work across elective and trauma services. Formal supervision and completion of annual appraisals with junior stuff will also be required. In addition, the post holder will contribute to the wider Occupational Therapy service i.e. audits, service developments, attending meetings.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
