Overview
Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an outstanding Specialty Doctor to join our dynamic Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHT) in the Mid Mersey Division. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, while working within a highly skilled and compassionate multidisciplinary team.
The CRHT operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing intensive support to service users in the least restrictive environment. The team plays a vital role in reducing hospital admissions and supporting recovery at home.
Base: Harry Blackman House, St Helens
Additional Sites: The Brooker Centre (Halton) & Knowsley Resource Centre (Knowsley)
Responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical care, leadership, and decision-making within the CRHT.
* Deliver timely responses to referrals, ensuring early intervention and crisis resolution.
* Act as a gatekeeper for all hospital and crisis bed admissions within the local division.
* Facilitate early discharge from inpatient units through robust home treatment plans.
* Offer therapeutic interventions in the community, tailored to individual needs.
* Work collaboratively with families, carers, and referring professionals to ensure holistic care.
* Case allocation is done following MDT meeting appropriate criteria for referral being met.
* There is an expectation that you will provide supervision to the NMP in the team and also to the junior medical staff. This will be incorporated into the job plan.

Requirements and expectations
* Flexible working requests will be considered for all roles.
* This will consist of patient reviews and home visits to see urgent or emergency reviews for patients open to the team, although the bulk of cases will be reviewed on site.
* Desirable: Mental Health Act Section 12(2) status.
* Management of complex cases and advice on patient care to other team members.
* Clinical leadership of the team by participating in team MDTs to discuss allocations of patients and responsibilities under the MHA Code of Practice.
* Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
* Liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies.
* Mental Health Act implementation.
* Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.
* To participate in annual appraisal for specialty doctor.
* To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
* To participate annually in a job plan review with the line manager.
* To comply with the Trust’s agreed policies.
