About the Role:
Are you a Criminology or Psychology Graduate eager to make a real difference in the lives of young people?
This exciting role offers hands-on experience working in a specialist SEN/SEMH school, supporting students aged 5–18 who display social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You’ll be part of a dedicated team helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional regulation skills, and make positive life choices.
This experience is invaluable for anyone aspiring to work in criminal justice, youth offending, probation, social work, or psychology.
Key Responsibilities:
– Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis.
– Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
– Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver inclusive education.
– Implement de-escalation and restorative strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
– Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields.
– Non-graduates with relevant experience in youth work, mentoring, or social care are also encouraged to apply.
– A strong interest in working with young people who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system.
– Sincerity is key – what drives you, and why do you want to support some of the most vulnerable children in society?
– A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
– Experience (voluntary or paid) with vulnerable young people, SEMH, or youth offending (desirable but not essential—full training provided).
– A genuine passion for advocacy, social justice, and rehabilitation.
