Description Costain’s framework with Heathrow is the Major Programme Partner (MPP) role with Principal Contractor and Principal Designer responsibility for delivery of all works within the construction and handover phases of the T2 Baggage Programme (T2BP). The T2 Baggage Programme is a £600m complex baggage and infrastructure programme intended to extend and protect existing T1 baggage operation until the new T2A baggage system has been designed, constructed, tested and is operational. The program is split into seven tranches / projects. The role is initially anticipated to be focussed solely on Tranche 5, which is the design and installation of the new baggage handling solution including all associated structural, building, mechanical & electrical and systems & control works required to facilitate the baggage solution. However, there could be a requirement to support other tranches / projects within the H7 Framework. The role will involve working closely with the Client’s suppliers (Beumer / Fujitsu) and the Lead Designer (AECOM) appointed by Costain to develop an integrated solution to accommodate the baggage infrastructure. This will involve collaborating with all disciplines. LI-JK1 Responsibilities Promoting, championing, and implementing all best practices, safety management and safety initiatives across all design and site delivery aspects, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment. Setting clearly defined objectives for self and others to deliver plans. Taking appropriate ownership and accountability. Identifies and organises resources to accomplish tasks. Ensuring plans have targets, measures, and clear accountabilities. Package management for suppliers during the design phase, including risk and commercial management. Initially focussed on the ECI phase, however, will likely transfer into the delivery phase. Development of the installation, commissioning & handover strategies for all aspects of the project. Including the review of Client deliverables such as baggage system solution. Promoting the best build sequences to improve constructability and site delivery in the design and delivery phases, championing modern methods of construction and safety through design Review / challenge high-level control strategy. Providing input and advice during the procurement process. Assisting the procurement and commercial teams in developing scopes, budgets and any incentivisation targets. Support the development and coordination of specialist input to the development of design, specifications and commissioning strategies. Support the development of the integrated delivery programme with a particular focus on commissioning and systems integration Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Design, installation, commissioning & handover of baggage systems and associated infrastructure including MEPH. High-level controls, systems and integration including PLC software and emergency stop philosophy. Understanding of Engineering and Construction principles for civil, mechanical, electrical and controls requirements. Worked in aviation Package management of subcontractors in an ECI and delivery environment Previous experience of people management on complex/sensitive programmes and successfully impacted peers/others to gain buy-in and enable change to happen. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload, balancing competing priorities and deadlines. Desirable Delivery of baggage handling solutions Management of subcontractors in an ECI and delivery environment Experience of Autodesk suite of software Understanding & experience of Heathrow Airport’s project lifecycle process. Qualifications Essential Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering or relevant professional experience. Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). Desirable Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS. Knowledge of construction contract law and forms of NEC contract through formal training
