HEAD OF DEPARTMENT (ADVENTURE CENTRE - OBT) Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in character education. We run our own prestigious and well-established Summer School for children aged 8-16 from approximately 40 nationalities. Each year we create a vibrant international community where our staff play a critical role in creating a happy and formative summer experience for our students. We are looking for a Head of Department (Adventure Centre) to oversee the off-campus adventure elements of the course, based at the Outward Bound Trust Centre at Fort William. With responsibility for the student’s welfare while they are staying at the centre you will lead a team of GISS staff who work alongside the OBT staff to create a safe and happy environment, giving the students encouragement and support to fully embrace the varied programme of activities. Applicants must have experience of working in an educational, boarding or summer school environment is also required. A teaching qualification and experience of working in outdoor education is desirable. Summer School operates two courses and the Head of Department (Adventure Centre - OBT) is required to be available for the full duration. 2024 dates, including mandatory induction, are: Tues 2nd July – Mon 5th August Residential position with full board.
