At Dover Precision Components, we are on the lookout for a dedicated Goods Inwards Quality Inspector to play a vital role in maintaining our high standards. You will ensure that all incoming components and materials meet our rigorous specifications before they enter our inventory.
As a leader in designing and manufacturing hydrodynamic fluid film bearings and active magnetic bearing systems, we cater to high-performing turbomachinery and rotating equipment across various industries, including oil & gas, power generation, and marine. Join us in making a difference!
What You Will Do:
* Conduct First Article Inspections and create detailed reports.
* Perform First Off Checks within the goods inwards area.
* Maintain inspection records and manage the release or rejection of goods.
* Verify supplier certifications and ensure proper documentation retention.
* Quarantine goods as necessary and ensure calibration of inspection equipment.
* Notify Quality Engineers of customer returns and create MRR/CAR documentation.
* Participate in Tier II meetings and contribute to safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Scan documentation and maintain electronic filing systems.
* Liaise with various departments including Stores, Purchasing, Planning, and Manufacturing.
* Create certificates of conformance and assist with other duties as assigned by management.
What You Will Bring:
* Proven experience in a quality inspection role within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including geometric tolerances.
* Proficiency with conventional metrology gauges such as micrometers.
* Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
* Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
* Proficient in MS Office and a solid understanding of health and safety culture.
Qualifications:
* SVQ3, HNC, or a time-served apprenticeship in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (or equivalent).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* UT/PT (SNT or PCN) qualification.
* Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements.
* Experience with problem-solving techniques.
* Familiarity with Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM).
* Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
