Our team

Eversheds Sutherlands’ immigration practice is an integrated part of our Employment Labour and Pensions Practice group (ELPG) which is one of the largest in the world with over 100 lawyers in the UK alone and 400 lawyers internationally. We operate as a workstream within ELPG, combining our extensive understanding of international employment and pensions law with immigration, tax and strategic labour relations advice. We have the expertise and resources to deal with matters of any size and complexity. The quality of work we can offer is unparalleled. Role and key responsibilities

We are looking to expand the team immigration team and have an opportunity for a lawyer with 4 - 8 PQE who would be interested in being part of an energetic team of specialist immigration solicitors within a challenging and rewarding area of law.

Team members carry out leading work for major organisations making the law as well as advising on it. The resources of an international firm allow all of our lawyers to produce their best work and use their imagination as well as legal skills to provide a great service to our clients.

Ideally candidates will have the ability to deal with the competing demands of clients which arise from involvement in a number of separate transactions at once and have the ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines as well the ability to demonstrate the delivery of excellent client care.

We are looking for a candidate with a good base of experience in UK immigration law particularly advising on right to work compliance and training, sponsor licence applications, sponsor duties and compliance, Skilled Worker and Global Business Mobility and other sponsored visa applications and accompanying dependent applications.

Experience of providing written advice to businesses on strategic immigration decisions is essential. A wider knowledge of personal immigration applications including indefinite leave to remain, spousal and naturalisation applications would be desirable but not essential. It is also desirable to have had some experience in contentious immigration such as audits, challenging civil penalties and making representations to UKVI on behalf of clients. We also welcome applications from those who have cross immigration and employment law experience.

You will work directly with the Partners and wider team to manage immigration matters across a number of sectors including: education, technology, retail, industrials, financial services and utilities. You will supervise as appropriate more junior members of the team.

Skills and experience

* Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently at times with little supervision.
* Experience in providing supervision and supporting more junior colleagues.
* Experience of working in a national team of lawyers.
* Responsive to change and can innovate to accommodate clients’ needs and provide commercial solutions to maximise value for the client.
* Training skills with design and delivery of bespoke and public training material.
* A commitment of delivering quality service is essential, as is the ability to handle the demands of a heavy workload
