About the role
The Technical Specialist provides expert knowledge and technical support for the operation and maintenance of wastewater network. The role focuses on providing technical support to both field and office operational teams, ensuring consistencies with data, outputs and ensuring compliance with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise & Problem Solving
* Act as subject matter expert on sewer networks, technology and systems.
* Analyse CCTV surveys, data, and field reports.
* Validate data, reports prior to project completions.
* Liaise with planning team & field based employees.
* Recommend improvements for continuous improvement.
Data Analysis & Systems
* Use asset and work management systems such as ILJ & ILA.
* Interpret GIS mapping.
* Validate & maintain accurate asset records and condition data.
* Produce reports and technical recommendations.
Health & Safety
* Promote safe systems of work, especially for confined space activities.
* Support risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
Stakeholder Engagement
* Work with operations teams, planners, and contractors.
* Provide technical guidance to field crews.
* Liaise with clients and customers where required.
* Support customer issue resolution.
About you
Essential
* OS19X to current MSCC5 standards.
* Strong knowledge of wastewater/sewer networks.
* Experience in drainage, utilities, or water industry.
* Ability to analyse technical data and diagnose issues.
* Understanding of network maintenance techniques (jetting, CCTV, repairs).
* Good communication and report‑writing skills.
Desirable
* Experience with hydraulic modelling tools (e.g. InfoWorks ICM).
* Knowledge of sewer rehabilitation methods (lining, patching, civils).
* Understanding of UK water regulations and performance commitments.
