Job summary

We’re going through an exciting change at Companies House, as our new powers are being introduced. We need an adaptable and bold individual to lead our busy Integrity & Enforcement (I&E) team in Edinburgh. You’ll need to be committed, confident, and able to work independently yet great as part of a team; working together to deliver more for our customers.

Our Operational Leader will be an excellent leader:

* Providing visible leadership, coaching and support for their team - role modelling positive behaviours to ensure teams deliver the highest quality of customer service, whilst also providing technical knowledge.
* Managing a team – ensuring team performance, delivery and quality of service whilst effectively managing team dynamics and creating genuine team spirit.
* Focusing on continuous improvement – supporting people working towards our goals & objectives.
* Communicating and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders across a range of settings.
* Providing great customer service - dealing with enquiries and complaints to ensure the Companies Register is accurate and up to date.
* Work with courts and other government departments.
* Play your part in the management team, carrying out activities required in your role as a member of the Edinburgh and the wider Companies House leadership team.

Person specification

We’re looking for a great Operational Leader with:

* Excellent leadership skills – involving and engaging others to ensure high performance and effective delivery of our vision and strategy.
* Great communication skills - with the ability to convey messages clearly verbally and in writing, including giving evidence in court.
* The ability to build capability in teams – to meet current and future skill requirements.
* The ability to deliver and improve operational performance - displaying enthusiastic and passionate behaviour to deliver a balance between best-in-class customer service whilst supporting improving the integrity of information on the register.
* Confidence - dealing with a range of stakeholders and senior leaders, using strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
* Resilience - responding positively to challenge and having the ability to adapt your communication style to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience in an enforcement environment would be great, as you’ll have responsibility for work undertaken by the I&E team, although please apply if you don’t have this, as we can train you, but we’d like you to have the ability to learn at pace.
