Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a talented individual to join us as a class teacher in the newly established primary
phase at Helena Romanes School. This role is an exciting and unique opportunity and you will be teaching a
Year 1 class.
This is an exciting time to join the school. In October 2023, Ofsted judged the school to be GOOD in all areas. In
September 2021, the school was designated as an all‐through school for pupils aged 4‐18 years and began
admitting pupils into its primary phase. We will grow incrementally over the subsequent years and will
eventually become a two‐form entry primary phase. We are also working with the Department of Education to
build a new, state‐of‐the‐art school building on Stortford Road, Great Dunmow, which is set to open to the
primary phase in 2026 and the secondary and sixth form phase in 2027.
We are looking for someone who:
is an excellent primary practitioner;
has high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour;
has excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills;
is committed to working in partnership with our parents and the local community;
has a good sense of humour.
Why choose our school?
We are a welcoming, friendly and caring school;
We have enthusiastic children who love learning;
We offer excellent opportunities for professional development and progression and a bespoke
programme of support and training based on individual needs;
We have a brand new learning environment;
We are part of the highly successful Saffron Academy Trust.
We would love to hear from you if you are an inspirational, dynamic and creative individual who makes
learning fun and challenging, and who is looking to join a supportive and enthusiastic team in beautiful rural
surroundings.
Full details of the vacancy (and further information about the school) can be found on the school website.
Please note that this vacancy is not suitable for ECTs. To arrange a visit to the school, or for any additional
information, please contact Bev Louth on, or by email at .education. Visits to the
school to meet with our staff and pupils are warmly welcomed and encouraged.
The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It
expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check
and satisfactory references.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday 1st October. The school reserves the right to interview
candidates before the published closing date.
