Assistant Residential Support Worker Location: Halifax Client: Calderdale Borough Council Contract Type: Temporary (3 months) Hours: Full time - Varied shifts on a 4-week rota, including: Sleep-in: 12:00 pm – 23:00 pm, then 7:00 am – 12:30 pm Day shifts: 8:30 am – 16:00 pm, 9:00 am – 16:30 pm, 13:00 pm – 20:30 pm Includes 4–5 sleep-ins per month and alternate weekends Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella) About the Role You will support adults with severe and enduring mental health issues, learning disabilities, and other complex needs in a residential setting. The aim is to help individuals develop the skills and confidence to live as independently as possible within their community. Key Responsibilities Support service users with daily living activities in line with agreed outcome plans Build respectful and positive relationships with service users and their families Continuously assess mental state and risks, and develop risk management plans Monitor health changes and report concerns appropriately Handle finances and medication administration Maintain cleanliness and domestic standards Record relevant information using IT systems Work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals Experience & Knowledge Experience in adult residential care, particularly mental health, learning disabilities, and complex needs Understanding of mental health issues and their impact Experience assessing individual needs and managing risks Familiarity with safeguarding practices and data protection principles Knowledge of therapeutic interventions and care planning (desirable) Skills & Competencies Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport Ability to work effectively in a team Competent in using IT systems for record-keeping Written and numerical skills equivalent to GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations Additional Requirements Must be a driver with access to own vehicle and appropriate business insurance Enhanced DBS with Adults Barred List Check required Willingness to work weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in shifts Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of vulnerable adults No personal care or manual handling required Additional Benefits Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable adults Supportive team environment Flexible working across a consistent establishment Training and development opportunities If you are interested in the role and would like to contact me for further information on the role you can contact myself on the details below.
