Applications are invited for the position of a Band 4 Senior Medical Secretary within the busy Rehabilitation Services, based in Denbigh.

It is essential that applicants hold the relevant qualifications as per the person specifications, previous medical secretarial experience would be desirable as would a high level of audio typing skills and a good telephone manner.

The successful candidate must have a good understanding of MS Office applications including Word, Outlook and Excel as minute taking and report producing will also be required.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will possess excellent time management skills, be well organised and have the ability to prioritise workload demands to meet strict deadlines whilst producing work to the highest standards.

The post holder must also have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, using discretion, judgement and initiative. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential together with a keen eye for detail, with the ability to process and generate urgent and routine correspondence.

Candidates must be able to maintain patient confidentiality and ensure a high standard of customer care at all times.

It is essential that the successful candidate has a flexible approach to work to meet the demands of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities

To provide a comprehensive, high quality medical secretarial and administrative service to the consultant their medical team and specialist nursing teams, and other health professionals. To co-ordinate and maintain arrangements to facilitate the patients progression along a defined pathway. To maintain the office organisation and support colleagues.

Qualifications

* NVQ Business Administration L3 OR equivalent experience
* City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration OR equivalent Medical Secretary Experience
* Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications
* Qualifications in Medical Typing OR equivalent experience
* Knowledge of Community Rehab Team Service


Experience

* Experience of working as a Medical Secretary
* Experience of organising workload and people
* Experience of Diary Management
* Ability to organise & prioritise own workload
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Previous NHS Experience


Aptitude, Abilities and Values

* Ability to prepare and take minutes
* Excellent Communication, Customer Service and Team working skills
* Ability to produce reports
