I am seeking an experienced Senior Architect / Senior Technologist to join a busy Commercial Architecture team in Bedford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled professional to deliver complex projects, lead on technical design, and play a key role in shaping commercial developments across the UK.
The Role
As a Senior Architect / Senior Technologist, you will bring proven expertise in commercial architecture, with experience spanning retail, industrial, logistics, office, and educational sectors. You will be responsible for producing and coordinating detailed construction packages, overseeing work on site, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard.
You’ll act as a key point of contact for clients and consultants, managing multiple deadlines, and taking the lead on projects when required. This is a role that requires both technical excellence and strong communication skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships and work effectively within a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead projects across all RIBA stages with a strong focus on technical design and delivery
* Produce and manage detailed drawings and construction information
* Coordinate and check information from external consultants for integration into project designs
* Maintain effective correspondence with clients, consultants, and team members
* Visit sites independently and produce accurate records and reports
* Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, planning systems, and statutory processes
* Balance multiple project deadlines and budgets effectively
* Represent the practice at industry events where required
About You
* Part 3 RIBA / ARB Qualified or MCIAT with 8+ years’ post-qualification experience
* Demonstrable track record of delivering complex commercial projects
* High level of technical design and detailing expertise
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modelling software (essential)
* Experience with NBS specifications (essential)
* Knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop and other presentation tools (desirable)
* Strong portfolio showcasing both design strength and technical delivery
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as projects demand
