Specialist Occupational Therapist Palliative Care
This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative, self-motivated, and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapy Service. Supported by the wider Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary team, you will develop your knowledge and skills in a highly specialist and rewarding setting.
Situated just outside Cardiff with excellent road links, you will be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to palliative care patients within the Health Board.
We offer numerous learning and development opportunities, including a Band 6 Development Framework, a tailored training passport, and peer support to enhance your specialist Occupational Therapy, leadership, and management skills.
As part of a close MDT, you will collaborate with patients and their families to identify goals, conduct assessments, plan interventions, and support patients to remain in their homes.
The post holder will manage an independent caseload, delivering high-standard, evidence-based interventions. You will work closely with the MDT, Principal OT, Discharge Liaison Team, and Local Authorities to ensure effective cross-boundary and agency collaboration.
We seek a versatile, self-motivated Occupational Therapist with an understanding of complex manual handling and issues affecting end-of-life care. You should demonstrate autonomy, excellent interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and a flexible approach to service needs. You will also collaborate with Senior Occupational Therapists to develop the service through evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
Your role includes providing assessments and interventions in hospital and community settings to enable patients to stay in their homes. You will supervise junior team members and student Occupational Therapists, with a passion for delivering evidence-based, high-quality care through research, audit, and quality improvement projects.
The ideal candidate will be motivated, enthusiastic, and possess exceptional communication and people skills.
