We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run engineering company based in Stourbridge for an Accounts Administrator. This is a varied, hands-on role within a small, close-knit team – ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of both the day-to-day finances and the general running of the office. As an Accounts Administrator, you’ll be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, managing all core bookkeeping activities, and supporting general office administration. The company uses Xero and Excel, so previous experience with both will be essential, along with a background in a similar SME environment. The role is part-time, working Monday to Thursday, 9am–4pm, with some flexibility available if needed – making it a great fit for someone looking to balance work and home life. Key Responsibilities: Purchase Ledger * Match purchase orders to delivery notes * Enter invoices into Xero and check against POs and budgets * Ensure approval for invoices without POs * Process payments to suppliers * Reconcile supplier statements Sales Ledger * Raise stage payment invoices * Chase overdue payments General Ledger * Bank reconciliations * VAT returns * Manage petty cash * Prepare cash flow forecasts * Post journals (grants, insurances, etc.) Management Accounts * Job costing: WIP (hours & materials) * Deferred income and depreciation calculations * Accruals & prepayments * Payroll and hire purchase journals * Intercompany reconciliations (including JV with India) * Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet reconciliation, trial balance * Produce KPI reports and variance analysis Payroll * Weekly payroll (approx. 11 employees) * Monthly payroll (approx. 6 employees) * Pension admin and auto-enrolment * Real-Time Information (RTI) submissions * PAYE and other deductions (e.g. CSA) * Process pension payments and HMRC submissions Office & Admin Support * Answer phone (automated system with voicemail) * Sort post and handle general office tasks * Manage weekly timesheets and update job costing * Meet and greet visitors Benefits: 33 days annual leave (pro rata), pension scheme, and hours designed to support a healthy work-life balance This is a fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Administrator to join a stable, supportive business where your input will be genuinely valued.
