Locum Consultant Endoscopist – BCSP
Overview
The Digitial Diseases Centre (DDC) within Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant Endoscopist to provide flexible cover for the Endoscopy Services at Queens Hospital and King George Hospital. The role involves performing a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and supporting a busy multidisciplinary team in North East London.
Responsibilities
* Deliver both inpatient and outpatient endoscopic lists, including urgent and non‑urgent cases.
* Perform diagnostic and therapeutic OGD and colonoscopy, EMR, colonic stenting, ERCP, EUS (radial and linear), capsule endoscopy, oesophageal pH and manometry studies.
* Manage gastro‑intestinal bleeding and other acute GI conditions.
* Participate in on‑call duties and provide coverage during evenings or weekends when required.
* Contribute to ongoing research, audits and the development of clinical guidelines.
* Assist in training and mentoring junior staff, and develop skills in subspecialty areas such as advanced endoscopy and video capsule endoscopy.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
* JAG‑accredited and Bowel Cancer Screening accredited.
* Extensive experience managing gastroenterology inpatients and outpatients.
* Fully competent in all aspects of upper and lower GI endoscopy and management of GI bleeding.
* Experience with advanced procedures such as EMR, ESD, ERCP, EUS, and hybrid techniques preferred.
