Our Pain Clinic are looking for a Registered Nurse to join their nationally recognised pain service and help us in providing the best care we can to our patients!
You will be responsible for supporting the Pain Clinic team in providing exceptional care for patients suffering with chronic pain within the pain theatre and outpatient pain clinic department.
You will help to maintain a safe and efficient service being able to work undirected at times, complete essential documentation which means you will require great computer skills.
Main duties of the job
1. To participate in all aspects of Pain Clinic work and deliver a high standard of care and safety too patients and their families.
2. The post holder will work within and sometimes lead a clinical care team.
3. The post holder will be responsible for assessment, planning, provision of care, admitting, caring for during and after and discharging patients having procedures.
4. The post holder will be prepared to learn and practice appropriate specialist skills to accommodate developing services.
5. The post holder will take personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that Trust and local policies and procedures are known and followed and will ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practice set out in NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
6. The post holder will take responsibility for the supervision and guidance of other staff including healthcare assistants and students on a daily basis.

7. Organise and participate in the delivery of high standards of evidence based nursing care.
8. To organise and facilitate nurse led TENS clinics.
9. To ensure safe custody of controlled and other drugs.
10. To report accidents/incidents, legal and ethical issues in nursing practice in order to protect patients and colleagues.
11. To report to the appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team any significant changes in a patient’s condition or situation.
12. Take personal responsibility as a team leader for the delivery of care of patients in a defined area.
13. Assist with implementation of new developments to ensure their smooth introduction.
14. To contribute towards health promotion for all patients by providing education, support or advice as necessary. Ensure referral to appropriate professionals or agencies as required.
15. To be responsible for admission assessment and preparation for patients undergoing procedures.
16. To be responsible for the safe recovery and discharge after procedures.
17. Contribute to effective ordering of supplies, maintenance and repair of equipment.

19. To have detailed knowledge of manual handling regulations particularly with regards to the moving and handling of patients.

21. To keep up to date on professional issues and developments in order to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.

Essential criteria
26. Registered Nurse with current live NMC registration

Work Experience
Essential criteria
29. Expectation to have undertaken training required by the ward / department. IV drug administration, cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs, male catheterisation, PCA and Epidural training
30. Experience in an acute hospital setting
31. Knowledge of pain management
Desirable criteria
32. Experience in an Outpatient or Theatre setting
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

33. Advanced communication skills, verbal & written, to include report writing and record keeping
34. Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and multidisciplinary team
35. Basic computer / IT skills and expectation to develop these in line with the needs of the service. IHS, Acis, Email use

37. Scrub/ Theatre skills
The successful applicant(s) will normally commence at the minimum of the scale unless they have previous NHS service at the same band. Progression through the scale is by annual increments.
