Several exciting roles have become available within the Synergy Programme, a cross-departmental initiative formed in response to the Government Business Service’s request for departments to collaborate in ‘clusters’. The goal is to drive efficiencies, increase purchasing power, and improve shared services for our end users – our people.
The Synergy Programme is the largest of five departmental clusters, including the Ministry of Justice, Department for Work and Pensions, Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Home Office. It is hosted by the Department of Work and Pensions. Your work will influence procurement arrangements for the next 15 years, affecting over 50% of all Civil Servants – approximately 230,000 individuals across these departments and associated bodies.
The success of this programme is vital, as Civil Servants depend on shared services for critical tools related to human resources, finance, payroll, and procurement. It impacts essential processes, from onboarding and expense claims to purchasing goods and services, and even retirement pensions.
We are especially interested in applications from individuals passionate about our core mission: delivering a transformative service for Civil Servants within the Synergy Cluster.
This role offers an exciting development opportunity for an SEO to leverage HR expertise and strong organisational and interpersonal skills in a dynamic environment, spanning both Change and HR functional areas. You will be an advocate for Synergy and the programme’s objectives, responsible for building and maintaining robust relationships with HR Product Managers, Process Owners, Delivery Partners, and the SME community across the four departments. Flexibility to handle diverse tasks and adapt quickly to changing priorities is essential for success in this role.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the delivery of the Synergy HR Functional work plan by leading specific activities, tracking actions, documenting decisions, and sharing information within the team and with wider HR groups.
* Gathering and quality-assuring information, data, insights, and evidence from SMEs across departments to guide the development of the programme’s Common Operating Model and ensure alignment with Government People Group principles.
* Working collaboratively with proven organisational skills, resilience, and flexibility to operate at pace.
* Applying knowledge of HR processes and policies to support impact analysis aimed at achieving convergence across large, complex government departments.
* Leading efforts to gather and deliver functional/user requirements related to your product area throughout the programme lifecycle.
* Communicating effectively with clarity, integrity, and enthusiasm. Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues to influence and negotiate positive outcomes.
* Facilitating cross-cluster working groups, producing key information for decision-making, tracking decisions, and deputising for Product Managers as needed.
