* Utilise a wide range of tools and equipment (e.g., chainsaws, strimmers/brush cutters, heavy plant machinery, boats) to prevent and mitigate flood risks.
* Participate in structural maintenance, vegetation management, small construction projects, soft engineering methods, beach maintenance, and culvert/grille clearances.
* Work across a range of assets from large flood relief channels and flood storage reservoirs to local defences, in urban and rural environments.
* Perform asset operation, maintenance (e.g., vegetation control, small construction tasks) and incident response as part of day-to-day duties.
* Use IT devices to track work tasks and communicate with team members.

What you will need

* Ability to work in all weather conditions in a mix of urban and rural environments as part of a dedicated team.
* A valid UK manual driving license and ability to travel to base depot within 60 minutes to respond to incidents.
* Passion for the outdoors and a genuine commitment to protecting the environment.
* Literacy and numeracy skills, willingness to learn in-house systems and use IT devices.
* Understanding of site health and safety requirements; full training will be provided.

Where you will work

Travel to your depot to check in daily and then be dispersed from there in smaller teams to carry out field work within the geographical area.

What’s in it for you

* Meaningful impact and the opportunity to contribute toward Carbon Net Zero by 2030.
* Diverse role across structural maintenance, vegetation management, small construction projects, soft engineering, beach maintenance, and incident response.
* Training and support, with opportunities to complete the Water Environment Worker apprenticeship.
* Continuous learning and career development, supported by practical on-site experience and specialist training when required.
* Inclusive culture and a supportive environment where you’ll feel trusted to do the right thing.
* Salary and benefits: starting salary £25,308; generous pension; overtime opportunities via standby and incident pay; 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays (holiday entitlement adjusted for non-standard hours); maternity, paternity, and adoption leave; possible job share or set days in some cases.
