Overview
A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to welcome an additional Community Mental Health Practitioner to the team. This post follows on from our first successful round of recruitment as part of our Community Transformation Plan and implementation of the streaming model of care in the SCMHT. For this post we are looking for someone to work with the depot team, running a regular clinic for service users to administer medication. There are other opportunities within different areas of the SCMHT, and you can apply for this position while exploring where you would prefer to work. We can offer time spent across the SCMHT to align with service needs and your skills and preferences.
This post is a full-time position (37.5 hours) with working hours 8am – 8pm, 7 days a week. Applications from staff wishing to work part-time hours are encouraged; flexible working can be discussed. The post is based at Claire House in Wigan and the post holder will travel across the Borough to attend satellite clinics in Wigan and Leigh.
Responsibilities
* Support the depot stream function of the SCMHT, including screening referrals and offering assessments to patients accepted to the service for assessment.
* Work collaboratively with patients and families to identify the appropriate care and treatment plan for their needs. This role would be non-caseloading.
* There are opportunities to support a caseload of patients with severe and complex mental health conditions under the direct clinical supervision of a Senior Case Manager (Band 7).
* Manage duty calls from adult service users with severe and enduring mental illness, and from carers, friends and families, providing advice and support where appropriate.
* Attend satellite clinics across Wigan and Leigh as required.

Staff wellbeing and development are paramount. Full supernumerary status will be provided to support induction to the team for the first 4 weeks. Your skills and development opportunities will be supported as part of your induction process and reviewed regularly during line management supervision and an annual appraisal, as well as regular reflective practice sessions.
