Naimuri - AWS Platform Engineer
Job Title: Naimuri, AWS Platform Engineer
Job Type: Permanent, Fulltime
Job Location: Portsmouth
Job ID: 19270
Overview
As a primarily AWS-focused Platform Engineer at Naimuri, you will be hands‑on designing, building, and supporting secure, scalable, and automated cloud infrastructure using Amazon Web Services. You’ll operate at the intersection of platform engineering and cloud architecture, enabling teams to move faster, deploy with confidence, and embrace modern DevSecOps practices.
You’ll work in a cross‑functional platform capability, collaborating with developers, data, and delivery leads to turn infrastructure into reusable, self‑service products. We operate in different cloud environments, so opportunities exist to cross‑skill in platforms such as Azure and Google Cloud.
You are expected to have solid practical AWS experience, curiosity about how things work at scale, and an instinct for automation, governance, and cloud‑native thinking.
Key Responsibilities
* Build & Automate: Deliver reusable infrastructure modules and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild to support consistent and secure deployments.
* Platform Ownership: Contribute to the development and refinement of internal AWS Landing Zones, ensuring secure‑by‑default and policy‑driven environments across multiple accounts.
* Operational Excellence: Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve environments using tools like CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and GuardDuty.
* Governance & Policy: Implement and maintain IAM roles and policies, Service Control Policies, tagging strategies, and cost control measures.
* Security First: Embed secure design principles into everything you build; support identity and access management, Secrets Manager/KMS integration, secure pipelines and vulnerability management.
* Collaboration & Enablement: Coach delivery teams on best practices, help define golden paths and documentation, and lower barriers to adoption.
* Innovation & Evolution: Stay up to date with AWS capabilities, contribute to capability assessments, and actively suggest improvements or new services that align with company strategy (e.g., enabling AI/ML or hybrid connectivity).
Core Skills & Experience
3+ years hands‑on experience with AWS cloud environments in production.
Strong Experience With

* Container Orchestration (Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, Helm, Kustomize, Docker/Podman)
Experience building and consuming shared infrastructure as code modules in a GitOps‑style setup. Ability to troubleshoot cloud‑native, micro‑service applications, networking, and infrastructure issues.
Exposure to AWS data and AI/ML services (e.g., SageMaker, Comprehend, Rekognition, Bedrock) is desirable.
Desirable / Bonus
* Exposure to hybrid cloud setups (e.g., on‑prem integration or restricted networks)
* Familiarity with supporting data/AI pipelines or platform integrations (e.g., Glue, SageMaker, Step Functions, EventBridge)
* Awareness of enterprise controls (NCSC/Cyber Essentials, NIST, or similar frameworks)
* Understanding of cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices

Behaviours
* Proactive problem‑solver who balances pragmatism with long‑term maintainability
* Comfortable owning delivery, making trade‑offs, and asking the 'so what?'
* Collaborative, with good communication skills and a bias toward enabling others
* Security‑conscious and compliance‑aware without being a blocker
* Willing to continuously learn and adapt to new challenges
