Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading O&M company in the power generation sector to recruit a Mechanical Outage Coordinator for its CHP facility in Seascale, Cumbria.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Outage Coordinator role

Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, you will:

Lead and coordinate all mechanical outage activities to ensure work is safely and efficiently scoped, planned, and delivered.

Support the planning and scheduling of outages in line with the annual operating plan and site agreements.

Oversee contractors and internal teams during outage periods, ensuring full compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Manage work orders, documentation, and technical reports, ensuring all outage-related information is accurately maintained in the CMMS.

Conduct quality checks, technical inspections, and post-outage reviews to drive continuous improvement.

Ensure that all statutory and inspection requirements, including PSSR activities, are completed within planned outage windows.

Play an active role in maintaining site operational readiness, supporting zero harm initiatives, and contributing to the Duty Technician call-out rota.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Proven experience in a 24/7 industrial or power generation environment.

Strong understanding of maintenance management systems, outage coordination, and contractor supervision.

Knowledge of relevant legislation, safety procedures, and mechanical best practice.

Proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.

Demonstrated ability to plan, manage budgets, and deliver work within agreed timescales.
