Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a Ranger based in Carrickfergus. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.
Duration: Expected to be 1-2 months; extension possible due to sick leave
Rate of pay: £12.59
Hours of work: 3-week rotating rota, 2 rest days with one weekend off every three; 37 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
The primary role of a Ranger includes:
• Supporting site management in maintaining and conserving State Care Monuments.
• Managing visitor access and facilitating events at these sites.
• Delivering visitor services.
• Assisting with building management and project monitoring.
The main duties encompass:
1. Site Presentation: Maintenance, cleaning, signage, vehicle upkeep, litter collection, surveys, animal and plant control, equipment operation, and driving departmental vehicles.
2. Visitor Services: Supervising groups, organizing events, providing guided tours, setting up displays, assisting visitors, and facilitating external events.
3. Health and Safety: Conducting site inspections, risk assessments, audits, and emergency responses, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance.
4. Other Duties: Covering sites, security checks, patrolling, enforcing byelaws, operating equipment, record-keeping, community engagement, and customer service.
Applicants must meet the following essential criteria:
* Proof of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent.
* At least 2 years of experience in an administrative role.
* Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to use own initiative.
