Distinct is delighted to be supporting a growing SME within the B2B and wholesale sector in the appointment of an interim Head of Finance. There is the potential for this to lead to a permanent position.
Location: Remote
Contract: 6 months – 4 days a week, also considered.
This role is hands-on. The business has locations in the UK, the US, and the UAE. The organisation is entrepreneurial, commercially driven, and continuing to evolve — making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building structure and driving improvements.
The Role
The position reports to the CFO. You will be responsible for leading all aspects of financial control, reporting, and cash management.
Key responsibilities will include:
Financial Reporting & Control
* Ownership of the month-end and year-end close across all group entities
* Preparation of consolidated management accounts with clear, value-added commentary
* Oversight of prepayments, accruals, and expense controls
* Full balance sheet ownership, ensuring reconciliations are robust and timely
* Managing external advisors and year-end processes where required
Group & International Accounting
* Consolidation of UK, US, and UAE entities
* Intercompany accounting and reconciliations
* Oversight of transfer pricing policies across jurisdictions
* Ensuring compliance with relevant local and group reporting requirements
Cashflow & Working Capital
* Development and management of detailed cash-flow forecasting
* Providing visibility of short and medium-term cash positions
* Active management of working capital, including stock and debtor performance
Process Improvement & Systems
* Reviewing and strengthening existing processes and financial controls
* Driving efficiencies and automation within Xero
Commercial Partnership
* Acting as a trusted partner to senior leadership
* Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles
We are keen to speak with qualified accountants (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who have operated within an SME environment and are comfortable rolling up their sleeves.
You will ideally bring:
* A background in B2B/Wholesale/E-commerce
* Group accounting experience
* Exposure to international operations
* Experience managing transfer pricing considerations
* Xero accounts are advantageous, solid Excel
* A pragmatic, hands-on approach with strong communication skills
