The Multi Skilled Engineering Shift Lead will provide leadership for the shift team and safely deliver a service of excellent value with adherence to all current company procedures and to the Quality Management System applied to all M&E systems. Ensuring continuous improvement and drive for value for money.
Main tasks and Responsibilities:
* Undertake a supervisory role in terms of team leadership, technical authority, training and performance management, ensuring high quality of work from the team.
* To carry out planned maintenance in accordance with London City Airport, Building Services PPM task schedules.
* Ensure comprehensive understanding of current Risk Assessments and if task to be carried out by any member of the shift team is not covered by a Risk Assessment that a Point of Work Risk Assessment is conducted and recorded.
* Production of technical and situational reports as required.
* Carry out all works in a professional and proactive manner at all times.
* To communicate clearly and effectively with the rest of the Building Services team and other airport functions and teams at all times.
* Provide first line out of hours call out for the site.
* Writing activity and safety reports in line with Company procedures accurately and timely.
* To ensure that the Company is presented in a good light at all times.
* Undertake reactive maintenance works as directed by the Help Desk and/or management team.
* Investigate faults, identify root causes of faults and prepare accurate and timely reports on plant and equipment failures and communicate findings with all relevant stakeholders.
* To escalate any major site issues or incidents to Building Services management asap once noticed.
* To manage Integral sub-contractors whilst working on site
* Understand and be aware of the requirements of all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality legislation and are equally aware of own role and responsibilities within the Company.
* Ensure that all materials and equipment are handled, stored and used with due regard to the relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
* Actively participate in London City Airport health and safety processes, policies and procedures including, accident investigation, reporting, risk assessments and auditing
* Any other reasonable instruction from the Building Services management.
* Assisting in the co-ordination and supervision of specialist contractors in response to scheduled works & emergencies using appropriate working systems and ensuring all certification/ documentation is filled in accordingly.
* Undertake all works in accordance with safe working practices, quality standards and conform to best practice methods.
* Carry out isolation of plant and systems in accordance with safety requirements.
* Develop a comprehensive understanding of the airport layout, function and complexities through developed practices and continuous assessment, staff training and personal development.
* Shall not undertake any tasks or functions that will endanger self or others and shall ensure that any unsafe acts that are witnessed are challenged immediately.
* Ensure any hazards or unsafe acts are reported through the Accident and Safety reporting scheme and to the relevant managers.
* To undertake any training required as relevant to job role
* Setting and agreeing personal performance measures with Line Management
* Work within a culture of continuous improvement within the shift organisation and work in partnership with other shifts so as to achieve a consistent and efficient operational output.
* Performance manage your team reports (Engineers & Technicians) Yearly review, full records are kept and training log and personal development plans are kept up to date/actioned.
* Ensure understanding and visibility of contractors on site Projects and undertake works handover as required.
Key Competencies:
* Minimum of 5 years experience in Building Services Engineering and excellent technical (HVAC and critical engineering plant and systems)
* Experience in customer facing environment.
* Strong, demonstrable competencies of dealing with site plant.
* 2 years previous experience within similar environment and in particular across multi discipline service delivery.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
* Recognised industry standard NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a 17th or 18th Edition
* Second/ Third Skill - Set - highly desirable
* Experience of working with asset/work management systems such as CONCEPT / CAFM systems.
* Ability to manage priorities in line with business needs
* Ability to turn hand to most activities within a building maintenance environment
* IPAF Trained (desirable)
* First Aid Trained (desirable)
