We are looking for a sub-specialist in Maternal-Fetal Medicine with a commitment to providing the highest level of care to our patients and attaining the best treatment outcomes in the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic MFM team at Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, as we have moved into our new, purpose-built fetal medicine unit. Liverpool Women's Hospital is one of the largest purpose-built maternity units in Europe.
Main duties of the job
* The clinical duties will be negotiable depending upon the individual\'s specialist areas of expertise and skills. Job plans will be annualised which provides a clear expectation of activity and flexibility.
* Proposed duties are noted below (note the frequency of on-call, weekend work is subject to change as new colleagues are appointed).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Fetal Medicine – The successful candidate will have approximately 2–3 fetal medicine sessions per week (168 sessions/year), depending on service needs. There will be opportunities to develop in areas such as multiple pregnancy, echocardiography and fetoscopy/laser service.
Maternal Medicine ANC – The successful candidate will have 1 maternal medicine clinic per week (42/year). This is flexible and will reflect directorate needs and interests of the candidate.
Delivery Suite – This post will include approximately 1 day every 5 weeks of direct clinical care on the delivery suite, usually on a fixed weekday (circa 11–12 days per annum, 08:30–21:30).
Twilight rota is 2:2:3 format: consultant must be resident on delivery suite from 20:30–00:00 and on-call in dedicated facilities from 00:00–08:30. Attendance is as per the RCOG document (2021). Daytime clinical activity is not scheduled during this period; compensatory rest is provided.
Daytime weekend work includes a long day (08:30–21:00) for acute obstetrics and a short day (09:00–12:00) for antenatal/postnatal ward rounds on a 1 in 25 rota. Bank holiday work is timetabled within programmed activity (08:30–20:30) on a 1 in 25 rota.
Person specification
Qualifications and training
* MRCOG or equivalent
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee
* Sub-specialty Training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine
Experience and skills
* Clinical training and experience in General obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
* Clinical training and experience in diagnosis, management and counselling of complex fetal and obstetric problems
* Clinical training and experience in ultrasound-guided procedures
* Clinical training and experience in maternal medicine
* Clinical training and experience in maternal high dependency intrapartum care and care of extreme preterm pregnancy
* Clinical training and experience in obstetric critical care
* Established research interests in obstetrics/MFM
* Experience in training subspecialty trainees and clinical fellows in fetal medicine
* Level 1 educational supervisor training
Research
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
* Evidence of original work through publications in peer-reviewed journals
* Research activity leading to a higher degree (MD (UK), PhD or MPhil)
