Position Overview
This role involves designing compact, high-reliability high-voltage (5-10kV) systems for airborne military applications. Responsibilities include specifying design requirements, ensuring safety standards, and supporting technical documentation. Emphasis is on designing for small volume, versatility, and high reliability, with strict adherence to high-voltage safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Design circuits and sub-systems to meet customer requirements, ensuring reliability and manufacturability within cost targets.
* Resolve technical issues during development, production, and service efficiently and accurately.
* Verify designs through simulation, testing, and environmental assessments.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative, environmental, and safety standards.
* Update product standards post-launch based on continuous improvement, obsolescence, or regulatory changes.
* Identify intellectual property opportunities and manage patent processes.
* Monitor market and technological trends to develop new products or upgrades.
Skills and Experience
* Expertise in power electronic systems design, including switch mode power supplies, PCB design, high-frequency digital and analog circuits in MILSPEC applications, and magnetic components.
* Experience with high voltage (3-10kV) and high power (500W to 2kW) systems preferred.
* Knowledge of reliability engineering, failure analysis, and safety practices.
* Proficiency with PCB layout and manufacturing techniques, schematic capture, and tools like Mathcad.
Qualifications
* Degree in electronic engineering or equivalent practical experience in relevant technology.
* Additional education in electronics or related fields is advantageous.
Security Clearance
* Full SC clearance required; DV clearance is an advantage.
