About Concern Worldwide:
Founded in 1968, Concern Worldwide is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organization dedicated to reducing suffering and ending extreme poverty in the world's poorest countries.
Concern Worldwide's vision, mission and work are all defined by a key goal: to end extreme poverty, whatever the cost. Concern aspires to a world free from poverty, fear and oppression.
Our culture is values-driven, and we believe that our people are at the heart of everything we do and are essential to achieving our goal of "Reaching the most vulnerable first". We are committed to ensuring a workplace where everyone feels valued and has the opportunity to succeed in their work and contribute to the achievement of our mission.
Purpose of this consultancy:
Concern Worldwide is seeking the services of a consultant (independent contractor) to support us in identifying and prioritising relevant global and regional institutions (such as the World Bank, the G7, the G20 etc), funding mechanisms (such as the Green Climate Fund), policy processes (such as the Global Alliance on Hunger and Poverty), events and platforms, and identify relevant entry points for Concern Worldwide to influence them on better integration of nutrition within their wider food security funding, policies, and programming, particularly in fragile and conflict affected states.
The consultancy work will highlight opportunities for influencing that we haven't explored yet, by identifying new potential engagements with donors such as the World Bank and the Green Climate Fund. The consultancy will also look for global policy processes and global events/Summits that we should engage with, within the UN, the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, the G7 and G20 and similar institutions, to influence the policy discourse on food security funding.
Various Tasks include:
* A desk-based review of Concern Nutrition and Livelihood strategies and programmes to get a solid understanding of our programmatic approaches.
* Interview key staff members involved in food security and nutrition programmes and relevant coordination mechanisms to summarise future nutrition and food security priorities, and to map the engagement with relevant global or regional mechanisms, institutions, processes on food security and nutrition.
* Identify the most relevant advocacy opportunities (i.e. institutions, funding mechanisms, policy processes, events, platforms and relevant entry points) that Concern UK should influence in light of its focus on nutrition integration within the wider food security landscape, with a specific focus on Fragile and Conflict Affected Contexts.
Outputs:
Outputs will include a technical report, executive summary and PowerPoint presentation of key findings. A digital copy of all reports will be required by Concern at the end of the consultancy
The main output of the research will be a concise (no more than 25 page) technical report and executive summary. The report should include:
* The used methodology
* A summary of the assessments of the findings
* A mapping of the advocacy opportunities
* Recommendation sections
