Location and schedule
Newcastle Under Lyme, ST5. Temporary position, long days and waking nights. Salary: £14.50 per hour.
Responsibilities
* Assisting residents with personal care, including bathing, dressing and grooming.
* Supporting residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment where required.
* Providing companionship and emotional support to residents; listening to concerns with empathy.
* Encouraging social interaction and engagement in activities.
* Assisting with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary needs are met.
* Monitoring and recording fluid and food intake.
* Administering or assisting with medication as per training and care plans.
* Monitoring and recording vital signs and reporting concerns to senior staff.
* Maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment; cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
* Following infection control protocols and procedures; promoting independence and dignity; protecting patient privacy and confidentiality.
* Working collaboratively with health professionals and family members; assisting with wound care and minor clinical procedures.
* Leading the shift to ensure high quality care is maintained;
* Administering and recording medication as required.
Ideal candidate
* Previous experience in a health care role within a home setting or domiciliary care.
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is essential.
* Care Certificate is essential.
* Medication Administration Training is essential.
* At least 12 months experience as a Healthcare Assistant.
* Compassionate, patient and caring nature; ability to work in fast-changing environments.
* Dependable, good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to undergo relevant training; enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
* Right to work in the United Kingdom; full UK driving licence is desirable.
