College Support Assistant We are currently recruiting a dedicated College Support Assistant to work in a college setting, supporting learners who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This is a long-term position offering consistent hours and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives. Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 8:50am – 3:30pm Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour The Role: As a College Support Assistant, you will support learners with a range of special educational needs, helping them to develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills. Support will be delivered in line with PACE – Preparation for Adulthood, Citizenship, and Employment, ensuring learners are equipped for life beyond college. Key Responsibilities: Supporting learners with EHCPs on a one-to-one or small group basis Assisting learners to access the curriculum and engage in college activities Promoting independence, communication, and social skills Supporting Preparation for Adulthood outcomes, including life skills, employability, and community participation Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation in line with college policies Working collaboratively with tutors, therapists, and other support staff Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with young people or adults with SEN (education or care setting preferred) A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach An understanding of EHCPs and person-centred support A genuine interest in supporting learners to prepare for adulthood and employment What’s on Offer: Long-term, stable role in a supportive SEN college Competitive hourly pay Opportunity to gain valuable experience within an SEN and post-16 education environment This role is ideal for individuals with experience in SEN support, care, youth work, or those looking to build a career in specialist education.
