Main Responsibilities and Duties
Interventions
1. Oversee interventions in the relevant keystage.
2. Observe support in lessons with a view to discussing strategy and types of support.
3. Plan provision in conjunction with the SENDCo.
4. Assist the SENDCo in determining intervention targets.
5. Upload interventions to SIMs.
6. Monitor student progress (SISRA).
7. Monitor the records kept by all TAs working with pupils and raise concerns or matters of interest to the SENDCo.
Exams
1. Update spreadsheet with details of exam concessions.
2. Prepare exam timetables in conjunction with the SENDCo.
Transition
1. Assist the SENDCo in the process of transition between KS2 and KS3.
2. Assist the SENDCo in the process of transition post 16.
EHCPs
1. In conjunction with SENCO and admin support, prepare paperwork for EHCP review.
2. Update review sheet in pupil’s EHCP file to show actions taken.
3. Attend EHCP annual review meetings.
4. Ensure actions are relevant to outcomes in EHCP and that EHCP outcomes are met.
5. Assist the SENDCo in setting appropriate, specific, and measurable targets for EHCP.
Leading other TAs in supporting students
1. Observe support in lessons and interventions with a view to discussing strategy and types of support.
2. Carry out appraisal observations and interviews as directed by the SENDCo.
3. Lead department discussions and planning on meeting the needs of students.
4. Monitor record keeping of all TAs working with students, including logs and attendance sheets.
5. Contribute to and lead department INSET on matters, strategy, planning, and administration when appropriate.
6. Organise the planning and delivery of Key Skills and small group lessons in conjunction with the relevant HOD and SENDCo.
Liaison with relevant teaching staff over the needs of pupils
1. Preparation of supporting data.
2. Attend relevant year group meetings and prepare minutes in conjunction with HOD.
3. Gather information from teachers prior to EHCP reviews.
Supporting Students
1. Support students with revision strategies and help develop new methods and materials to aid revision.
2. Liaise with outside agencies such as medical services and Careers services.
Meeting with SENDCo
1. Attend regular meetings with the SENDCo (ideally weekly) to support departmental planning.
Early Help Assessments
1. Complete Early Help Assessments for students.
2. Complete neuro-referrals for students.
3. Meet with parents/carers as part of the Early Help process.
