Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking a Family Support Worker to work with our client based within a local authority setting. This is a temporary assignment working 37 hours per week, initially for three months, and will involve providing direct support to children and families to improve outcomes and promote positive wellbeing.
Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Family Support Worker with a strong background in working with vulnerable children, young people and families. The ideal candidate will have experience within local authority, social care or early help services, delivering targeted support and intervention to help reduce risk and improve family stability.
Main Duties:
* Provide direct support to children and families experiencing a range of social, emotional and practical difficulties
* Carry out home visits and community based interventions to assess needs and provide support
* Complete assessments and contribute to family support plans and intervention strategies
* Work closely with social workers, schools, health services and other partner agencies
* Support safeguarding processes and identify any risks or concerns in line with procedures
* Help families access appropriate services and community resources
* Maintain accurate and timely case notes, reports and records
* Manage a caseload and prioritise work effectively to meet service requirements
Essential Criteria:
* Experience of working with children, young people and families in a support or intervention capacity
* Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection processes
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
* Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
* Experience of working within early help, family support or children’s services is desirable
