Accounts Assistant Barton upon Humber, DN16 up to £26,000 Permanent / Full Time / Hybrid Working Elevation Accountancy & Finance are excited to be working in partnership with a leading business based in the Barton upon Humber area as they look to expand their friendly finance team with an Accounts Assistant. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate cash control across the business, supporting daily reconciliations, and ensuring all banking activities are processed efficiently. You'll take ownership of reconciling branch bank accounts, processing petty cash requests and change orders, and reviewing chargebacks and BACS transactions. Working closely with colleagues across finance and operations, you'll help investigate and resolve discrepancies in cash takings, identify process improvements, and support the Management Accountant with wider month-end duties. This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a proactive approach who enjoys working in a varied and collaborative finance role. Duties include: Responsible for the reconciliation and reporting of cash handling in the business Dealing with and processing branch change orders placed with third party business Daily reconciliation of the branch bank account Processing petty cash request from branches Reviewing and managing chargebacks received into the business Monitoring the bank account for BACS payments received for cash sales as well as handling refund for cash customers paid via BACS Working with other departments to look at discrepancies in cash takings to identify opportunities to improve systems and procedures or identify potential areas of risk Assisting the Management Accountant with other duties Person specification: Educated to GCSE level Prior experience of working within an accounts' role Experience of a busy multi branch ledger Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel Great communication skills; confident when liaising with both internal and external Good planning and organisational skills Be able to work on your own initiative in a methodical and organised way Effective time management skills An ability to quickly grasp any new IT software and systems
