As an integral part of Waingels, the Thrive Centre shares the mainstream school’s vision to be a fully inclusive community where everyone belongs, thrives and succeeds. We are committed to enabling every student to feel valued, understood and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Waingels Thrive Centre is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Intervention & Inclusion Para‑Educator to join our Thrive team in developing this new and exciting provision. This is a vital role supporting students with personalised learning needs and ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive, both academically and socially.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of our new SEND designated unit in its earliest stages. Working under the direction of the Thrive Centre manager, you will play a key part in delivering high‑quality support, delivering 1:1 interventions and helping to uphold the school’s high expectations of behaviour, engagement and progress. You may also be deployed in the main school when required, either to support unit students to access mainstream lessons, or to support mainstream students as directed.

In this varied and rewarding position, you will be required to:

* Support students through one‑to‑one and small‑group intervention work
* Assist in preparing, delivering and monitoring personalised learning activities and materials
* Contribute to behaviour support, emotional wellbeing and positive student engagement in line with Thrive Centre policies
* Provide occasional short-term teacher cover within the Thrive Centre and supervise work as directed
* Assist with classroom organisation, resources, record‑keeping and day‑to‑day administrative tasks
* Support students during social times, ensuring a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment
* Work collaboratively with staff, parents and professionals involved in the student’s learning journey

About You

We are looking for someone who is motivated, adaptable and passionate about supporting young people. You will have:

Essential

* 5 GCSEs including English & Maths (grade C/4 or above)
* A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
* Experience working with children or young people
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* A flexible, constructive and positive approach to supporting students with a range of needs
* A high level of professionalism, confidentiality and safeguarding awareness

Desirable

* Experience working in a secondary school with SEND students
* Knowledge of autism and experience of working with autistic students
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools

The school is committed to safeguarding, equal opportunities and to promoting the welfare of all staff and students
