Reactor Operator Trainee
The Opportunity
Exciting and rewarding opportunities have arisen at Sizewell B Power Station to join our highly skilled and motivated Operations Department at the heart of the station's safe, reliable generation. There are several vacancies to join the next Main Control Room Training Programme. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be appointed as a Duly Authorised Person within a shift team, responsible for operating the reactor and all associated equipment.
At Sizewell B, the Main Control Room teams play a fundamental role in providing a strong operational bias to the rest of the power station, identifying and escalating plant issues based on plant performance, and developing standards both within and outside the company to improve human performance and ensure safe, reliable generation.
Pay, Benefits, and Culture
The salary range for this role is between £45,641 and £81,263. The starting salary is likely to be within £45,641 - £60,826, determined by your experience, qualifications, and the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement. We also offer an attractive pension scheme, comprehensive benefits, and shift allowances where applicable. These are full-time, permanent, on-site positions at Sizewell B Power Station.

What You'll Be Doing
As part of this training programme, you'll undertake various courses and gain site exposure. This includes a few months of site familiarisation, shadowing workers, and getting accustomed to the plant. The training involves 6 weeks of off-site courses starting with Operator Fundamentals, followed by site-specific training, on-plant exposure, and simulator sessions. After approximately 2 years, you'll be qualified as a Reactor Operator, opening opportunities for further career development within the Main Control Room.
You will also be part of the Station Emergency Scheme, which requires rotational on-call duties compensated accordingly.
Who You Are
* Have industrial and operational engineering experience
* Can think dynamically, balancing multiple inputs for optimal output
* Remain calm under operational pressures without compromising quality
* Possess a relevant HNC or degree
* Desire to work with like-minded professionals to ensure safe, reliable power generation at a nuclear station

Please note that maintaining physical fitness for the role and passing a medical assessment are required. You must also obtain SC security vetting, which is part of the onboarding process.
