This role will be based in London, UK and you are required to have the necessary right to work details prior to application.

As a Financial Lines Claims Handler you will be responsible for handling claims that occur out of our Financial Lines classes. You will be expected to ensure the proper servicing and settlement of claims within your designated authority. Working in partnership with senior handler / Claims management whilst at all times maintaining the highest standard of technical file handling and customer service.

Claims Handler:

1. Reports directly to Core Claims Manager.

2. Claims oversight from Technical Claims Manager.

3. Works in close co-operation with team colleagues.

Job Responsibilities & Competence

4. Manage, assess and adjust assigned claims, ensuring that coverage is accurately accessed, and file reserving is correctly set / maintained.

5. Proactively manage claim files ensuring all documentation is correctly filed and claims are regularly updated, diarised and managed proactively.

6. Ensure that claims are handled promptly, fairly and with integrity in accordance with The Hartford claims management guidelines.

7. Work closely with claims management and other team members as required on individual claims.

8. Maintain portfolio of Financial Lines TPA/DCA loss bdx and payments.

9. Receive mentoring and coaching from experienced senior claims handlers / claims management.

10. Maintain the highest standards of communication with claims management and underwriting to ensure that information on significant claims and claims trends is shared expeditiously.

11. Ensure that large loss information is shared promptly and that large loss reports are issued appropriately.

12. Liaise with other departments as appropriate including but not limited to Underwriting; Finance; Actuaries and Reinsurance.

13. Attend market claim meetings as required.

14. Liaise with brokers, stake holders and policy holders as required.

15. Liaise with other The Hartford offices as required.

16. Assist with reinsurance issues as required.

17. Ensure compliance with Lloyds minimum standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements relating to claims handling, in particular TCF.

Procedures

18. Adhere to any / all The Hartford, Regulatory (and any other) set policies / procedures. Claim Manual Guidelines

19. Undertake continued Professional Development.

Authority

21. Will be based on development / abilities.

Qualifications and Capabilities

22. Relevant Casualty claims handling experience

23. Working Knowledge of ECF2

24. Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of Insurance and related issues through formal and informal learning / exams

25. Ability to prioritise and organise workload and meeting deadlines

26. Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers

27. Working knowledge of general insurance and its underlying principles

28. Knowledge of FCA / PRA and Lloyds rules and guidelines

29. Progression to CII qualifications desired.

Educational Requirements

30. A level or University degree

Experience

31. Minimum 3 years relevant Financial Lines claims handling experience
